Vokalinis ciklas baritonui ir simfoniniam orkestrui gimė kaip kūrybinės bičiulystės su vienu žymiausiu Amerikos minimalistinės poezijos kūrėju, mano bendraamžiu John Gracen Brown pasekmė. Iš 1981 metais išleisto rinkinio „A Sojourn of the Spirit / Sielos viešnagė“ atrinkau 12 aforizmais vadintinų eilėraščių ir sudėjau juos į vieną ciklą. Tai momentinių nuotaikų ir jų kaitos atvaizdai poezijoje, o dabar ir muzikoje. Ciklas atliekamas pirmą kartą, taigi, skambės jo pasaulinė premjera. Dėkoju Šv.Jurgio menų festivalio Marijampolėje organizatoriui, šio kūrinio premjeros iniciatoriui, solistui Edmundui Seiliui, ciklo fragmentų atlikėjams bas-baritonui Žygimantui Galiniui, Nacionalinio simfoninio orkestro muzikantams ir dirigentui Modestui Barkauskui, pažadinusiems 20 metų laukusią savo valandos partitūrą. Premjera įvyko Šv. arkangelo Mykolo bazilikoje, Marijampolėje, 2024 06 28. Koncertą įrašė Lietuvos radijas.
The vocal cycle for baritone and symphony orchestra was born as a result of a creative friendship with one of the most famous creators of American minimalist poetry, my contemporary John Gracen Brown. From the collection “A Sojourn of the Spirit” published in 1981, I selected 12 poems that can be called aphorisms and put them together in one cycle. These are images of momentary moods and their changes in poetry, and now in music. The cycle is being performed for the first time, so it will be its world premiere. I would like to thank the organizer of the St. George Arts Festival in Marijampolė, the initiator of the premiere of this work, soloist Edmundas Seilius, the performers of the cycle fragments, bass-baritone Žygimantas Galinis, the musicians of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Modestas Barkauskas, who awakened the score that had been waiting for its hour for 20 years. The premiere took place at St. at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Marijampolė, 2024 06 28. The concert was recorded by Lithuanian Radio.
